Chris Evert is a retired American Tennis Player. She is the winner of 18 Grand Slam singles championship and three doubles title. She recently made to the news for showing off her Engagement Ring to Oprah on Tuesday’s show.
Career in Tennis
Chris Marie Evert known as World No. 1 tennis player was born on 21 December, 1954. She was coached during her career by Jimmy Evert and Dennis Ralston. She learnt tennis from his father from a very early age. She started her career in tennis 1959 and was ranked No. 1 under 14 girl in US.
In 1969, she played her first senior tournament and since then there had been no barriers for her. She has won 157 Singles and 32 Doubles title. However, the legend announced her retirement in 1989.
She is also the recipient of awards like Sportswoman of the Year , Philippe Chatrier Award , Jean Borotra Sportsmanship Award and many more.
Personal Life
Chris Evert got engaged to Jimmy Connors at the age of 19. The romance blossomed in 1974 when they both won the Singles title. But the romance was short lived and the couple decided to call off their wedding. Connors in his autobiography has described the reason for the cancellation being abortion by Chris without asking Jimmy.
In 1979, She married John Lloyd but due to her affair with actor and singer Adam Faith the couple separated but reunited in a biography but got divorced in 1987.
In 1988, she married skier Andy Mill and had three sons with him. But unfortunately tis marriage didn’t workout too and she filed for a divorce. The couple got divorced in 2006.
In 2008, she announced her marriage with golfer Greg Norman but after 15 months of their marriage they divorced in 2009.
Engagement Ring
Chris Evert showed off her engagement ring in her left hand to Oprah Winfrey, with Greg Norman. She flashed her ring as a support to her husband. After three weeks, the couple got married in Bahamas. Soon after their marriage Greg returned back to his course, where we spotted Chris in a dress and with her huge diamond ring in left hand. The couple was even spotted kissing at Southport golf Club.
